Third album Cult () presented the new sound: Apocalyptica began using much more distortion, and only two Metallica’s songs and Edvard Grieg’s piece Hall of the Mountain King were presented: other compositions were created by Eicca Toppinen. That record got fair reviews from the musical experts and was really enjoyed by the listeners.

The album then goes steady with Struggle and Romance slower songs that are quite nice. Afterward the band picks it up until albums end, but never capturing or duplicating the first track which is the best. Cult marks Apocalyptica's first genuinely original album (it only has a few covers), and I must say that it is really awesome. The use.

The Egyptian-flavored "Path" starts off the album on a very fast paced note. Then we get to the uber-heavy "Struggle", which sounds like a mental breakdown happening at an alarming rate. The third track, Romance is very beautiful, while having the metal feel to it. Lots of great sounds here.4/5(27).

Track 11 originally by Edvard Grieg: "Peer Gynt, Op. 23, Act 1, Pt. 5: In the Hall of the Mountain King". This line up of the band contains double bass and orchestral percussion in addition to the cello.
